How do I set up
my own hotspot?
First, you need a wireless network. myWIFIzone works with
any WIFI router or access point,
so if you already have one, that part is done! Next, download and install myWIFIzone on any Windows PC (W2K or XP) connected to your
wireless network. You will be asked to restart you computer at the end of
the installation process. When you restart, myWIFIzone
will display a message asking if you want
to register this site. Click on the message and follow the
instructions. When you restart myWIFIzone again, your site
will be activated as a hotspot. You can operate your
hotspot with myWIFIzone default settings, or change the
settings by logging in to the Site Control Center.

What is the difference between a HotZone, a FreeZone
and a Personal Zone?
A HotZone is a hotspot that supports real-time visitor
payments using PayPal. A HotZone Premium is a branded
hotspot where you can edit the splash page and take
advantage of other features.
A FreeZone is a free hotspot where your visitors don't
have to pay to gain access. They do have to acknowledge
the message on your splash page before being allowed
access.
A Personal Zone is a hotspot where you can have a
customized splash page, but all payments are handled by
you and are not automated. You can set up user accounts
and allow access to whoever you want.

Why do my visitors get the standard blocking page instead of
my splash page?
If your site has not added to your account or has not been activated, users will get the
blocking page.
This also happens if you have not set up payment for your site, or your site has been
disabled by our system administrator. You should still be able to preview the splash page
through the Site Control Center.

I am testing the service on my laptop, but I stopped getting
the splash page - why?
You may have already logged in while you were testing. If you did, you will not see
the splash page until the Session time you have set for the site expires, or you change
your IP address.

I am testing the service but I don't get the splash page. I get the site I am requesting.
If your test (visitor) laptop is running XP and it was running previously
on the network, it may have two gateways in its DHCP settings. You can check
this by typing "IPConfig/all" in a DOS box on the test PC. To get
rid of the router's gateway entry type "IPConfig/release" and then
"IPConfig/renew" in the DOS box. You should see only one gateway
now and the laptop should get blocked. (A real intruder PC will not have
this problem as it has not been on the network before)
Some pages may be stored in your test machine's cache memory, so it is really not
accessing the internet.
This also may happen if the computer myWIFIzone is running on is slow or very busy with
other software. The faster this computer can respond to intruder requests, the more likely
they will get the splash page.
